The problem is that RSS feeds do use categories, while other XML formats use tags for the same purpose. Thus the CyberSEO plugin assumes that tags are the same as categories.

So if it's your custom XML feed, you can simple use any other keyword instead of tags. Say "<groups>". E.g.:

<groups>
hats
t-shirts
pants
gloves
</groups>

Put them into a custom field:

groups -> groups

and then move into the $post ['tags_input'] array:
