I'm building a "Google News"-like website with african news, and I have many rss feeds to manage.

The content will be use to show something like Login to see this link

Is it possible to import rss feeds from a csv file, instead of creating them one by one ? I have more than 1,200 rss feeds.

Thx

Unfortunately that's impossible. You will need to add every feed's URL manually.

Excuse me, but how come ?

On the first picture here Login to see this link , I see an import feature. So, it's not working ?

I can't export neither, by the way. Is it normal ?

This feature allows you to export existing feed settings as a serialized text file and then import them all at once to another blog.

P.S. What do you mean you can't export the feed settings? Please explain.

Here, export is not working. It doesn't download me a file to save somewhere in my computer

So, import is not working or it is working ? I'm talking about the "import" section in CyberSEO (not the import section elsewhere in Wordpress)

Once again, the import routine does import the saved settings form a file. Do you have it?

As about the export function. Please email or PM me with the login/password to your blog's control panel. I'll take a look.

I've export all my feeds today using the export settings.

I wqnted to change some custom PHP code to all existing feeds (too much to do it manually).

So, I export all feeds, I change settings in the exported .dat file, and try to import it again (knowing that I want to overwrite all existing feeds with the new settings).

But, nothing is being done. The new file is not imported, nor the feeds are updated.

I've got also this problem, just walked in it this evening.
Was about to create a thread for it.

I my self try to search and replace the

"base_date";s:4:

to replace with

"base_date";s:11:

But the import does not overwrite any settings, which should be clear when exporting a fresh one. :)

Thx for help.

So, I'll need to delete all feeds, and import the ones with new settings ?

I'm afraid of that

This happens because your changes are incorrect. When you replace some value, you have to replace its length too (if different). E.g. in the following example, there are 9 symbols in "base_date" (s:9) and 11 symbols in "syndication" (s:11):

s:9:"base_date";s:11:"syndication";

So if you want to replace some word with another, make sure to replace its length by the proper one. You don't need to delete and re-syndicate the feeds again. Just make sure you alter the serialized data properly.

Hmm not sure what i'm missing here though.

In the very orginal export i made, lines :

"base_date";s:4: (=get date from post)

Where this line

"base_date";s:11:(=use syndication date)

To what I'm suposed to change any entry to get any entry set at 'use syndication date' ?

Thank you,

Exactly. Because when "get date from post" is selected, there is a 4-symbol word goes after "s:4:" ("post"). When you select "use syndication date" there is a 11-symbol word ("syndication"). They are stripped off in your example.

I can't show how to do it, because everything can be done via "search & replace" routine in notepad. Just make sure to change the string lengths as well. Here is some useful info on PHP serialized data format: Login to see this link

I had the same problem. I thought, to make sure I'll do it right, to give one of the feeds the correct settings and "find & replace" the settings of the other feeds with those. After importing them, though, nothing happened. So I had to do it manually. Luckily I only have 16 feeds, instead of 2600! :|

Next time I need to mass-edit something, I'll give it another shot and post my findings here.

Did you delete the existing feeds (not posts - feeds only) before to import the altered file?

No, I didn't. Since it says "All Existing Settings Will Be Overwritten". But, should I?

Actually if you did it right, the existing feed settings should be replaced. So if you delete the existing ones, you'll at least see, if the altered settings file correct or not. If it isn't, it won't be imported at all.
