I have a dedicated server for my tube site. I asked my host to make my server video streaming ready. They responded with this:
Sure we just installed this:
ffmpeginstaller.com
The page has a full list of everything it ads.
Thank you, Customer Support
However, the videos still do not seek properly when you try to click forward in the video outside of the buffer line the video starts over again.

Yes and that is the issue. Since my server does not have ngynx or an apache mod installed to seek/stream flash player the videos do not allow my vistors to seek forward properly. The videos simply start over if this is tried so I have no choice but to disable seeking/streaming. Is there any way to turn off the flash component and make it only function as html5 player?

Hello,
According to server requirements:
- your PHP version does not match, but it's OK, we can generate a build for PHP 5.2 (please notify that directly after purchase).
- Imagemagick is required, so it should be installed.
- MultiViews option is configured per domain in apache config, so your host support should be able to remove if present
- Nginx is required to have video skipping in Flash player. But in HTML5 player it is not needed. You can use any other pure HTML5 player with KVS, because our player does not support pure HTML5 mode yet.
If you want to use the new theme with basic KVS package, we can reduce theme price to 50$. But please note that many theme functionality (like favourites, playlists, signup / login) are not available in basic package.
If you want to use the new theme with advanced KVS package, we can reduce theme price to 100$. It will be mostly functional except albums and subscriptions.
Can you also share link to your old project, which you want to migrate to KVS?
Best regards,
Kernel Team
--------------------------Hello,
>> Are you saying that the reason KVS player is not seeking/streaming properly on my site right now is because Nginx is not installed?
Yes, any Flash player will not seek on your site unless server has no support for it. This support can be enabled with nginx. Probably there are also mods for apache, that can enable MP4 streaming support, but normally people use nginx. HTML5 player has another way of seeking, and it does not have any specific server requirements. But HTML5 doesn't work everywhere, e.g. in older browsers. So normally in the real world both HTML5 and Flash options should work together to support maximum of devices and browsers.
>> Is your default theme fully responsive?
Our default theme is kvs-demo.com, it is very obsolete and not supported anymore. It is not responsive in any way.
Best regards,

So just as i suspected according to the developers of the video player there is no pure html5 mode. It is impossible to use this player on pure Apache without a mod installed.
Seems you have some misunderstanding there.
- The KVS Player plugin for WordPress works with any version of PHP (version 5.2.4 or greater is the WordPress requirement).
- The KVS Player plugin does not use ImageMagic.
- Nginx Login to see this link.
The player is a client-side application which runs in the browser. It can't be physically installed to a server. So the streaming requirements have no relation to the player. They have relation to your videos only. If you host them on a server with Apache H264 Streaming Module, they can be played with seeking, if not - they can't. And it doesn't matter where your WordPress site and KVS Player plugins are physically located. This is not a limitation of the player. This is streaming video specification. Well the people who made the player have told me the opposite. I have a top of the line dedicated server and the player does not seek properly. After finding no solution I have beta tested three other players which are html5 based with flash fallback instead of the other way around and these players ALL seek perfectly with no issues. I appreciate your replies but you have a habit of passing the buck and not providing support. You pass the buck to server admins and even pass it to the original player devs.
My server admins have been working on this for days. It just does not work. videojs works, jw player works......
Unfortunately the theme I bought has your player integrated so I am now trying to work with the author to change it to a different player. Unless you have any other ideas as to why it is not working.

I still believe it was a misunderstanding (note my post above regarding the system requirements). Seems it was told you about Kernel Video Sharing tube management script (not KVS Player). Anyways, I'm forwarding this thread to the Kernel Video Sharing Team.

As I also told above, I'm not the one who developed the KVS Player, so I can't modify it. Furthermore, I didn't sell it to you, just because it's a freeware. The only product I sell is the WordPress plugin (a wrapper) which allows one to easily embed KVS Player into WP-powered sites. And that's fairly explained in the product description. Here is a quote:

So if you have any questions regarding my product (the KVS Player plugin), feel free to ask, but please don't tell anymore that I'm not providing support.

Direct quote from Kernal Video Sharing team " Nginx is required to have video skipping in Flash player. But in HTML5 player it is not needed. You can use any other pure HTML5 player with KVS, because our player does not support pure HTML5 mode yet."
Again "because our player does not support pure HTML5 mode yet."
You may have re-packaged it but the fact is that KVS is not providing support for the wordpress plugin. They only provide support for the javascript version. You are the only one who provides support for implementation with wordpress which is what I use and your plugin is what I use. I think it is quite obvious that when I eventually buy the KVS CMS and theme the fact that they themselves have already said that I will have to use a third party player with their theme makes it quite clear that this player is not compatible with Apache WITHOUT A MOD. There are other flash players which may come with pre-configured code to work with Apache but KVS player is not one of them. This player was designed to work with Kernal Video Sharing cms and theme on an ngynx enabled server.

So the player or the plugin? When you use a db management script (e.g. phpMyAdmin), you don't ask its developers why the db engine it works with (e.g. MySQL) does or does not support some features. That's because phpMyAdmin has no responsibility and no control over the MySQL engine and just uses it "AS IS'. If you have any questions regarding MySQL features, you contact Oracle directly even if they do not provide support for that particular 3rd-party db management script. Isn't this obvious?

But they provide support for KVS Player. All your questions above are related to KVS Player only and none of them has a single relation to the plugin. You can download the player from the official site (Login to see this link) and use it w/o any plugins at all. It will be much less comfortable but the final result will be the same.
Here is an example of thread about my plugin: Login to see this link

Admin is right, this issue is not related with WP plugin, but this is an issue of our player.
Player has primary Flash mode, which requires server to implement pseudo-streaming technology, which is not supported by Apache by default. Other players, which work in HTML5 primary mode - do not require this.
So basically you have 3 options:
1) Use another player with pure HTML5.
2) Use KVS player and disable video skipping
3) Reconfigure server to enable pseudo-streaming support (e.g. install nginx, or find appropriate apache modules).
