When using a non-standard rss url, rss retriever plugin does not function as expected.

It will not add the feed.

This same URL worked for cyberSEO lite.

The url is in the following format

Is there a way to add this feed to rss retriever?

Please provide the exact URL you are trying to syndicate. Also always include your Sindicator log - this is very important.

Thank you. Is there a way to mark the post private? I'd prefer the RSS URL to not be public.

I've checked your feed. It is empty - there are no RSS items (posts) in it. You can open that URL in your browser to see for yourself.

Yes, it is empty until an alert message is posted.

I was able to setup Cyber SEO Lite when the feed was empty, so I assumed I could do the same.

I'm sorry. Thank you for your time and help.

I will get a test message posted to the feed, then get RSS Retriever configured.

You can import some other non-empty feed, e.g.: https://www.cyberseo.net/feed

Then go to its settings and change its URL to the actual URL of your private feed.

And this error was produced...

PHP Warning: Undefined array key 1 in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins

This is not an error, but a warning that does not prevent the script from completing its work. Since I can't reproduce this warning on the test site, please provide access to your WordPress dashboard so I can see what's going on there.

I cannot provide access yet as this is a staging site for a migration project.

That might be the problem then. The wordpress URL is not accurate with DNS.

I will try again after it is public.

Thanks again for your time and help!

Please keep in mind that the plugin will not work on a staging site without a public domain: Login to see this link

OK, site is now live.

Still had the same issue so I tried using a different feed (the one you provided https://www.cyberseo.net/feed).

The site then crashed with a 500 error. I could not reload the site without disabling the plugin.

Now, even after deleting and reinstalling the plugin, the site crashes on a 500 error.

I am unable to retrieve the log.

You will need to check your server's error log to determine the exact cause of the 500 error. If you have cPanel, Plesk, or another hosting control panel, look for the "Error Log" section.

If you have SSH access, you can check the logs manually.

  1. For Apache, use "tail -n 50 /var/log/apache2/error.log".
  2. For Nginx, use "tail -n 50 /var/log/nginx/error.log".
  3. Some hosting providers store logs in "/home/your-user/logs/" or a similar directory.
